Colorado State University Homecoming 5k
Colton Connelly grew up in the serene landscapes of the Texas hill country, where his deep connection to nature was forged through countless days spent canoeing the Guadalupe river, exploring creek beds, and traversing county roads.
During his time at Comfort High School, Colton excelled in Cross Country, earning All-State honors and guiding his team to a bronze medal in the Texas State Championship. He also set a remarkable school record in the 3200m and was awarded MVP in both cross-country and track.
Continuing his athletic journey at Southern Arkansas University, Colton achieved further success, setting a new school record in the 3000m and earning prestigious MVP honors.
After earning his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology Exercise Science from The University of Texas at San Antonio, Colton gained valuable experience working as a physical therapy technician for nearly a year.
Beyond his collegiate years, Colton showcased his athleticism in various races, including finishing 18th overall in the San Antonio Rock and Roll event in 2010 and securing 4th place in the Austin Livestrong half marathon in 2013. In 2022, he realized a lifelong ambition by completing the Ironman Triathlon, achieving remarkable feats in both Ironman Texas 70.3 and Ironman Texas, thereby earning All World Athlete status.
As a Janji and Honey Stinger Ambassador, Colton embodies the spirit of endurance both in competition and in coaching. With podium finishes in 5k, 10k, and triathlon events, he has proven himself as a versatile athlete across multiple disciplines. Yet his true passion lies in guiding others—helping runners and triathletes not only improve their performance, but also find joy and confidence in the process. Colton believes that training should be approachable, sustainable, and adaptable to each individual, with an emphasis on long-term growth rather than quick fixes. His philosophy blends discipline with balance, encouraging athletes to listen to their bodies while still pursuing ambitious goals. By sharing his own racing experiences, he connects with athletes on a personal level, showing them that success comes from consistency, resilience, and community. Whether coaching a beginner toward their first finish line or supporting an experienced runner/triathlete in chasing a PR, Colton’s mission is to foster growth that extends beyond the race itself.
Looking ahead, Colton is dedicated to his training for upcoming races, with the prestigious Boston marathon and more Ironman competitions at the forefront of his goals. Additionally, he is actively pursuing certifications as a USA Triathlon Associate Coach and USA Level 1 Track and Field Coach.
Colton lives in Colorado with his family.
